The iris flower is a popular subject to paint in watercolour. Its beauty holds an irresistible attraction to many artists. Its elegant petals are well suited for painting using transparent watercolour pigments.
In this class, you will learn how to paint the delicate petals using wet-on-wet technique, using a limited colour palette of blue and rose pigments. Learn also how to preserve the whites of the paper and how to paint the leaves and stalk.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb hot press, 10 x 14”), watercolour brushes, palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, and mounting board. Students are encouraged to bring their own watercolour brushes and paints. The instructor will guide students on how to use them appropriately.
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
