Have you ever wondered how to paint the Northern Lights in watercolour? This class is designed for watercolour artists who has experience with the medium. We will explore bright and very rich colour pigments for this exciting piece.
The instructor will guide you step-by-step on how to create a beautiful wave of colors inspired by the aurora borealis. Wet-on-wet technique will mostly be used. Also learn how to paint silhouette of trees, how to use a flat brush and how to splatter paint. If you want to grow your watercolour skills and make an impactful piece with a subject that everyone enjoys seeing, this class is perfect!
Note: A photo reference will be provided by the instructor, as well as paints. Brushes, mounting board and other supplies will be provided by The Paint Spot.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Instructor will provide watercolour paint, masking fluid, and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press, 11 x 15”), watercolour brushes (round #2, round #12, & flat #12), 2 palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
- 1″ or 3/4″ flat brush
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
