Capture the calm beauty of Alberta’s lakes in this immersive one-day oil painting workshop with artist Leila Zolfalipour.

In this focused and inspiring session, you’ll learn how to paint a serene lake landscape and its mirror-like reflection using oil paints. We’ll explore composition, colour mixing, and underpainting, then move into layering, blending, and adding fine details, all in one complete painting day.

Whether you’re new to oils or building on your skills, this workshop offers a supportive environment to create something beautiful and take it home the same day. Perfect for beginners and hobbyists alike.

About the Instructor:

Leila Zolfalipour is a multidisciplinary artist based in Edmonton, Alberta. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design with distinction from the University of Alberta and is a juried member of the Alberta Society of Artists. Leila works in drawing, oil painting, sculpture, 3D modelling, and virtual reality, drawing inspiration from her Persian heritage, lived experiences, and the natural world.
With two decades of experience in fine arts, Leila has exhibited her work in Canada, Iran, and the UK, and her pieces are held in private collections internationally. She teaches drawing, oil painting, floral painting, and mixed media, encouraging her students to connect with their own stories through the process of making art.

Please Bring: 

1.    16×20 or 20×24″ canvas or gessoed wood panel
2.    Oil paints (titanium white, ultramarine blue, Phathlo blue, burnt sienna, burnt umber, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, sap green)
3.    Linseed oil and Gamsol
4.    Assortment of soft round and filbert brushes in small sizes
5.    Palette or palette paper
7.    Suitable art clothes, hand towel/tea towel, soft cloths for brushes, pencil and notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
