Create elegant botanical monoprints with the gelli plate! Over 4 weeks, we will explore a fresh and loose take on Florals, i.e. using abstracted floral and still life motifs to prepare a finished series of monoprints. These prints will be finished with mixed media and collage and ready to present as a collection. Get ready to play and learn in a fun, fast paced class that is suitable for all levels.
Week 1: Materials setup, learn to use a Gelli plate, brayers, fluid acrylic paints and draw and prepare our motifs. We will also pull our first layers, explore textures with mark making tools and start our series of prints.
Week 2: We will layer our stencils to create a floral/still life composition, use an offset technique, partial print and take our prints as close to finish as possible using the gelli plate only.
Week 3: We will continue with Week 2 work and add mixed media (markers, pencils, paint, washi tape) to simplify and emphasize elements in our prints.
Week 4: Bonus – create collage paper using the gelli plate. This collage can be used to add to monoprints as another mixed media element or on other work.
