Country Sunset Scene Watercolour Workshop WITH FRANCIS MARTE

Beginners welcome!
In this class, learn how to paint a cute and vibrant Red Cardinal.
We will tackle step-by-step:
1. Trace transfer the image on watercolour paper
2. Masking the image
3. Paint a blurred background using wet-on-wet and blooming
4. Paint a Red Cardinal using wet-on-wet, glazing and layering of pigments
5. Paint a feathery texture
6. Paint details meticulously using small round brushes
7. Paint a tree branch with a beautiful texture
8. Correct mistakes and “clean up” painting for a beautiful composition
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press, 11 x 9”), watercolour brushes, palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, masking fluid, and mounting board and spray bottle. Students are encouraged to bring their own watercolour brushes and paints. The instructor will guide students on how to use them appropriately.
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
