Beginners Welcome!
In this class designed for beginners, you will learn how to paint in watercolour a silhouette of a lighthouse, set against a dramatic sunset and using a limited colour palette.
The “color mixing secrets” lesson will be very valuable for anyone wanting to make the most out of a basic watercolour set.
What you’ll learn:
1. How to trace transfer the reference photo and plan your natural landscape painting in pencil before you start painting
2. How to paint basic figures and elements using a limited colour palette
3. How to layer effectively to add extra details
4. How to combine layers to create depth
5. How to paint a reflection of the silhouette on water
6. How and when to use wet-on-wet watercolour techniques to paint foggy skies
7. How to carefully use splattering technique to add more interest
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint, masking fluid, and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press), watercolour brushes, 2 palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
1. Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
2. Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
