Beginners Welcome!
Have you always wanted to learn how to paint those charming hay bales you see on a summer drive? In this 5-hour workshop, the instructor will show you how to paint a soft sky using a mix of transparent pigments that create a subtle but beautiful finish, wherein the pigments slightly separate. You will learn how to control the wetness of the paper and the correct amount of paints using wet-on-wet.
You will learn how to paint with a variety of yellows, oranges and mix with other colours to make your own browns and greens. Learn how to detail using a dagger brush, and using the appropriate brushes for the fields. Lastly, learn how to paint distant trees, shaped with a professional artist touch using dry-brushing.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint, masking fluid, and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press), watercolour brushes, palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
