Painting on Denim – Exploring Fabric Paint WITH SHELLY BANKS

Any Skill Level – Youth or Adult
Want to zhuzh up an old jean jacket or canvas sneakers that you never wear? In this one day class Shelly will take you on adventure in painting on fabric. Learn about base-coating your fabric to applying the final touches. No experience necessary. These ideas are just the start of what might become an addiction!
Bring your denim and Shelly will show you how to breath new life into any pair of pants, jacket or even sneakers! Just make sure that denim is clean/washed before applying paint
About the Instructor:
Shelly is an award-winning coloured-pencil artist who also enjoys teaching indigo dyeing, acrylic, glass painting and how to make beeswax wraps. She loves exploring a wide range of mediums. Her current passion is oil painting as it creates so much luminosity and vibrancy. She has taught for The Paint Spot for over 8 years now – she loves it!

Most Supplies will be provided by the Paint Spot: Acrylic paints, palette paper, and 12×12” canvas
Supply List:
1. Jean jacket, jeans, or canvas sneakers to paint
2. Acrylic paints
3. GAC 900 fabric medium
4. An array of synthetic brushes (rounds, filberts or flats of your choice) for the size of your project
5. Suitable art clothes, notebook (optional), snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
