This art class delves into the captivating world of urban sketching, utilizing toned paper to beautifully capture the essence of winter scenes during the holiday season. Participants will explore how to leverage the distinctive qualities of toned paper to elevate their artwork, skillfully emphasizing light, shadow, and the enchanting atmosphere of the season.
To bring your sketches to life, you’ll use a variety of materials, including white china markers, gouache, Pitt pens, and brush pens, allowing for rich textures and vivid mark makings. Join us in celebrating the magic of winter through your sketches!
About the Instructor:
Classically trained in Eastern Europe, Oksana began her art career in L’viv, Ukraine. Oksana studied at the Ivan Trush College of Decorative Arts. She chose to make painting, especially of murals, her specialty. In 2001, she held her first solo exhibition at the L’viv University of Ivan Franko. Oksana brings her training, skill, and passion to her painting, and she is versatile in expressive styles. She is adept at many genres, including portraiture, still life, and landscape.

Suggested Supplies: (Feel free to bring a few or all supplies from the list, as well as any other favourite drawing tools!)
Suggested Supplies:
1. Clairefontaine Paint On A3 (green, grey, or blue)
2. White china marker
3. White gouache
4. One granulated watercolour colour (ex: moon glow DS, or Payne’s grey or shadow grey or indigo)
5. Flat (#6) soft watercolour brush
6. Watercolour small palette with wells
7. Blackwing pencil (black) and an Eraser
8. Coloured Pencils (Faber-Castell Polychromos Dark Naples ochre or Naples yellow or Cadmium yellow)
9. Kuretake Zig Bimoji Fude Brush Pen (medium polyester tip!)
10. Pitt pen 0.3 black
11. Suitable art clothes, cloths or paper towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
