Class Limit: 12 Students

Beginners welcome!

This course is for beginners to intermediate painters who are interested in learning how to create abstract art. Refined abstract art doesn’t just happen, it requires a foundation of skills and a working process to support the artist in creating art that is most authentically them. No drawing skills or previous knowledge is needed, just a willingness to open up and play in the present moment.

In the first week we will be focusing on the basics of acrylics, and the importance of quieting the mind while playing to get into the creative flow space. The following weeks will cover the concepts of contrast and harmony, design and value, and colour. Learning how to apply these skills to abstract art will be the main focus of our time together. Assignments will be given to be completed at home during the week to deepen and accelerate the learning. The intention is for each student to complete 1-3 paintings during the five weeks.

Students will come away with a working understanding of the foundational skills taught, and how to use them within their own abstract art. They will begin to discern what lights them up when painting, and what their own personal self expression and style might be. Students will be given a process that can help them continue their artistic journey after the course has been completed.

Are you ready to have some fun and create abstract art?
