Beginners welcome!
If you’ve always wanted to try charcoal drawing but are a little intimidated or unsure of how to get started, this class is for you! In this introductory class, you will walk away with the confidence to level up your drawing practice with this bold and expressive medium.
The instructor will walk you through a basic understanding of various charcoal drawing tools, surfaces, and techniques. You will learn how to build complex, rich textures and tonal variations using additive and subtractive techniques. The focus of this class is not on a specific drawing outcome, but rather to confidently explore the medium itself, enjoy the process of drawing, and apply these lessons to your drawing practice.
About the Instructor:
Colleen Ulliac lives and works in Edmonton, Alberta. She holds a Fine Arts Diploma and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, both from MacEwan University. She works in a variety of mediums with a focus on drawing, painting, collage, and site-specific art.
