Explore sculptural balance and properties of sculpting, such as composition and strength. Learn to make master cuts and detailed forms.

Students will be introduced to the medium of foil/clay paint, finishes and coloured patina effects. Herman will discuss presentation and authenticity when it comes to completing your projects. The class will also include a Q/A talk on the process of metal electroforming your sculptures.

About the Instructor:

Close to four decades of public art, Herman has touched people, communities and schools by promoting his talent. Born in 1950, and second child in a family of eleven, he was born in Quebec and in 1953, his family moved to St. Edouard (County of St. Paul). In 1977, he established his family business (HuB Designs) by making concrete and cedar signs, golf furniture, bronze monuments, sculptures and awards. His first art lessons were under the tutelage of renowned local artist Margo Lagasse. He claims “She will always remain one of my greatest inspiration.” He later went to College of Art in Calgary, multiple art workshops and programs and attended Arizona School of Fine Art. He also belongs to such prestigious association as the VAC (St. Paul Visual Art).

CAVA ,(Centre d’arts visuels de l’Alberta) and most recently SAA (Sculptors Association of Alberta). He says, “belonging to an association provides multiple opportunities to advance and to gain a wealth of knowledge from fellow artists and sculptors. Even if his preference is sculpture, he enjoys all mediums such as painting, drawing, oil pastels, paper and clay.
He wishes to thank publicly his family, his fellow artists, his community, countless skilled tradesmen, his patrons and co-workers and all his teachers throughout his career.
