For those that love to learn in person and get hands-on experience, join us for an exciting and beginner-friendly makeup effects workshop, just in time for Halloween! Whether you already know what you want to create, or just want to go with the flow, this workshop is perfect for anyone eager to learn and have fun experimenting with makeup.
Led by the head of makeup department for Deadmonton Haunted House, take a peek inside their personal effects kit! There will be a show and tell table with all kinds of mufx goodies to inspire your creativity and ask questions! We aim to encourage good habits in a safe and welcoming environment.
Diving into the class, we’ll cover different techniques of wound creation and application, simple aging, and painting techniques. Discover how to safely create makeup effects and gain insights into professional tricks of the trade.
**Please note that latex will be used during the workshop, and we kindly discourage participation from individuals with latex allergies.**
About the Instructor:
Cate Carmichael is a professional Makeup Effects Artist actively working in the film industry since 2016 being driven by their love of movie magic and cosplay at a very young age. Starting Spiral FX in 2020, Cate brings a wealth of knowledge straight from the Vancouver film industry, having worked with some of the best artists and creature shops in Cananda. Whether you’re interested in the film industry, or eager to learn about these specific techniques, Cate will guide you through with their enthusiasm in an easy going and supportive environment.

You bring:
• Basic non-disposable makeup application kit, 10-20 brushes in different softness, stiffness, size and style.
(Sanitized for potential use on other classmates. Will be applying on hands, arms, neck or face – dress accordingly. Simple brush holder to place on the desk.
• N95 particle mask, Suitable art clothes, notebook, lunch, and lidded drink
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
