Beginners Welcome!
Paint a simple and natural landscape in a few simple steps! Paint a mountain landscape using simple techniques designed for beginners. You will learn how to paint mist, build incredible depth, and paint distant trees with a few strokes.
The “color mixing secrets” lesson will be very valuable for anyone wanting to make the most out of a basic watercolor set.
What you’ll learn:
1. How to trace transfer the reference photo and plan your natural landscape painting in pencil before you paint
2. How to paint simple paintings of any natural landscape in watercolour
3. How to paint basic trees and grass with minimal effort and brushstrokes
4. How to layer effectively to add extra details
5. How to add a figure into your landscape in a natural and simple way
6. How to combine layers to create depth naturally
7. How and when to use wet-on-wet watercolour techniques to paint foggy skies and distant trees
You will use a reference photo and only little drawing skills are necessary. The instructor will guide you with demos and useful critiques so you can continue to paint similar scenes on your own, using your own reference photos.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint, masking fluid, and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press), watercolour brushes, 2 palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
1. Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
2. Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
