Beginners Welcome!
Are you ready to make a dent in the world of watercolours? This beginner-friendly workshop is designed to explore various techniques to start watercolour painting. Guided by a reference photo, the instructor will demo step-by-step on how to paint rocks using various brush strokes and paint pigments.
In this workshop, you will learn:
How to transfer trace or draw the reference photo on watercolour paper. How to prep your painting – stretching paper perfectly, mounting paper on board and choosing the materials for mounting. How to analyze your reference photo to identify what techniques, colour pigments and other materials to use.
Materials list – the instructor will provide the recommended materials (paints, paper, brushes, palette, etc.) and explain the functions and properties of each material, and substitutions. As well as, how to mix various pigments to achieve interesting washes and textures. How to paint using wet-on wet technique. How to apply salt for interesting textures. How to paint gradient shadows. How to pay attention to value and tone and compare with the reference photo. How to correct mistakes – lifting paint, applying more layers
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.
