Beginners welcome!
Do you feel like venturing into the wonderful world of abstract watercolor paintings? In this class designed for beginners you will be introduced into making a simple abstract painting that uses the wet-on-technique. Vibrant, colourful paints will be dropped on the wet paper and let the pigments travel creating soft edges with transitioning colours.
This is a simple painting but involves brainstorming and planning out your work before putting paint to paper. The instructor will guide you as you learn the principles that make this method fun, accessible, and inspiring, and apply it to your own creations.
The instructor will be giving you little tips and tricks along the way that are particular to watercolour so that you can create your own planned or freeform process abstract paintings in the future.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press), watercolour brushes (round #2, round #12, & flat #12), 2 palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
