We’re making room for new products this fall, so this summer event is the best time to pick up some great deals. There are many drawing materials, sketchbooks, portfolios, acrylics and oils so there’s something for every kind of artist, Drop by and try something new or pick up an old friend at a great deal.

It’s a Block Party
Our sale will be in 3 tents in front of The Paint Spot at 10032 81 Avenue. The street will be closed as part of the Fringe Festival and Grindestone Theater Events. Beer gardens and live busking will also be animating our little street as you wait for your next Fringe show!
Come inside The Paint Spot for more sales and product demonstrations by local artists. Demonstration will run Noon to 5 PM most days. (Schedule subject to change. Curious? Please call 780 432 0240).

Thursday August 17 – Posca Pens Doodles
Posca Paint Markers write on any surface. Join us to doodle a cartoon on panel to create a wall of fun. These pens are also good for writing on bike helmets, skateboards and more.
Friday August 18 – Woodzilla Press Printing
Join artist Mona Sahi as she demonstrates how easy it is to make a lino print on a Woodzilla Press. Inks, paper, and lino blocks will be available for you to make your own print. (Got your own small lino block ready to print? Bring it and try printing on Japanese washi paper).
Saturday August 19 – Golden Acrylics Pastes & Gels
Stop by and watch Samantha Williams-Chapelsky demonstrate Golden artist colors line of Pastes and Gels. She will showcase mixing the textured products into acrylics, painting on top of them and using the gels as a topcoat on a finished work of art.
Sunday August 20 – Sakura Glaze Pens on Ceramic
Sakura Glaze pens are a unique type of glossy decorative art pen with raised writing you can feel! The three-dimensional ink writes well on plastic as well as non-porous surfaces, to add texture and dimension. Join us to learn several ways to use these glaze pens as a resist on watercolour paper too.
Monday August 21 – Shibori Dye with Indigo
Visit The Paint Spot to learn a few traditional Shibori techniques with Shelly Banks. Shibori is the Japanese art of binding fabric to create designs using Indigo Dyes. Tuesday August 22 – Brush Pen Testing Station
Brush markers allow for expressive line work for both drawing and lettering. You are invited to try one of Tombow’s Brush Lettering exercises to practice fluid thick to thin mark-making. Come see examples from Kim Fjordbotten’s LIVE at the Zoo and Figure Drawing sessions.
Wednesday August 23 – Amsterdam Acrylic Pearl Colour Mixing
Join us for the demonstration on mixing unlimited pearlescent and metallic colours using Amsterdam acrylics, pearl and copper. See the difference black paper makes.
Thursday August 24 – Monoprint Encaustics
Come make a hot wax print onto Japanese Washi Paper using Enkastikos Encaustic Sticks. Are you curious about Encaustics. Read about them in our Blog Post: Getting Started in Encaustics
Friday August 25 – Gelli Plate Printing
Monoprinting is fast and easy with a Gelli Plate. Join us to make a quick 3-step print that easily creates six colors! This is perfect for schoolteachers. Saturday August 26 – Dramatic Pastels
David Shkolny will demonstrate how to capture light in dramatic composition in pastel. You will see soft pastels in action and feel the different types of sanded and textured pastel papers available at The Paint Spot. Then be inspired to join one of David’s pastel courses this fall.
Sunday August 27 – Non-Toxic Water-soluble Oils
Introducing the new Schmincke Norma Blue Oils and Holbein Duo Oils. These professional water-soluble oil paints handle like traditional oils without the need for traditional solvents. Oil painters can enjoy painting without a toxic or smelly studio. Come feel the quality of these paints and learn about the mediums
