Description

Daniel Smith Transparent Watercolour Ground

It used to be that watercolor painters had few options beyond white paper or a few colored boards. Now you can turn almost any surface into a ground for watercolor painting. Our favorite use for this transparent watercolor ground is for coating raw wood panels. This allows you to paint on wood panels while keeping the beautiful wood grain visible. You can also use this ground as a base for collage, pastels, pencils and mixed media work.

Size: 4 oz

Apply this transparent Watercolor Ground straight from the container, using a foam brush or a synthetic brush for a more textured finish. For the smoothest surface, apply very thin coats with a foam brush, and allow to dry thoroughly between coats.

Curing: to allow the watercolor ground to attain the correct degree of absorption, let it dry and cure for at least 24 hours (depending on humidity).

DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Grounds provide a surface to paint with your watercolors on most any substrate, and it is mixed media friendly. All DANIEL SMITH Watercolor Grounds have excellent light-fastness, are archival and give you more creative ways and surfaces to paint with watercolors!
