DANIEL SMITH Gold Watercolor Ground allows you to paint on any surface and gives you a beautiful, iridescent gold surface to paint on! The ground makes a luminous gold paintable area when applied to a white surface. Because it is semi-transparent, it allows the color or pattern of the surface slightly show through the iridescent gold sheen.
For the deepest gold, apply 2 to 3 thin coats of the Gold Watercolor Ground. Your watercolors will add a glaze of color when painted over the Iridescent Gold Ground, modifying their color. You can paint over an entire surface with the ground or only areas where you wish to add gold effects.
Apply the Watercolor Ground straight from the container using a foam brush or a synthetic brush for a more textured finish. For the smoothest surface, apply very thin coats with a foam brush and allow to dry thoroughly between coats.
To allow the ground to attain the correct degree of absorption, let it dry and cure for at least 24 hours after the last coat (depending on humidity). The Iridescent Gold Watercolor Ground provides a surface to paint with your watercolors on almost any substrate. It is also mixed media friendly. It has excellent lightfastness, is archival and gives you more creative ways to paint with watercolors!
