Stoneground Paint Co. Gouache
Stoneground gouache is a water-based media that dries to an opaque, matte finish. Vermilion is a warm and intense red-orange, Vermilion is a bold, versatile hue that is useful in everything from florals and still life works, to landscapes, abstracts, and illustration.
Artist Notes: An intense red-orange, Vermilion mixes well with others, and creates particularly stunning orange hues when combined with Hansa Yellow.

Paint Makers Notes: Named for the historic pigment, which also happens to be a toxic combination of mercury and sulfur which darkens over time, Stoneground’s Vermilion gouache is a modern azo-based pigment that is non-toxic and lightfast.

Stoneground Paint Co. creates their handmade gouache by combining the world’s finest pigments as well as premium French chalk with a binder made from water, gum arabic, and honey. Colours are easily mixed with one another and can be used interchangeably with Stoneground watercolour paint.
Modern Colours
Stoneground defines modern colours as those developed and discovered after 1704. This was when the accidental discovery of Prussian Blue occurred. The colours Stoneground classifies as such, contain organic and inorganic pigments. Also, they are typically characterized by their intense and bright appearance.
