Description
Stoneground Watercolor Azurite
Azurite is a natural basic copper carbonate, and is always found along with Malachite. Used by the Ancient Egyptians, Azurite was arguably the most important blue pigment in 15th through 17th century Europe. Cheaper than Lapis Lazuli, Azurite was often employed in underpaintings prior to the application of Lapis. A striking blue-grey colour, Azurite is best applied in layers and has a particularly beautiful effect when used for glazing.
