The crane has long been a symbol or peace and longevity. It is said that anyone who folds a thousand cranes will be granted a wish by a crane. Inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, A Japanese girl who contracted leukemia as a result of the bombing of Hiroshima, started folding cranes in the hope that she would regain her health. Sadly, she passed away at the age of twelve. Nevertheless, her struggle inspired people from all over the world to strive for peace. Today, the folding of one thousand cranes is a symbol of hope and peace.
