Yasutomo Hosho Paper Sketch Pad 9×12″
These Sumi-E Painting & Sketch Pad rice paper pads are made of Hosho fibers. Hosho paper is a highly refined Kozo paper noted for its thickness, strength and fluffiness. Kozo is the principal fiber used in most Japanese papers and is noted for its length, strength and fineness. They are known for their resistance to shrinkage.
This 48 sheet pad makes a great student sketch pad. Hosho paper is thick, strong, fluffy paper typically used for official documents, sketching and painting. Printmakers prefer its absorbency, strength and versatility. Painters like it for ink, watercolor and lettering, and it is also sometimes chosen for rubbing techniques.
While the name used to indicate it was a highly refined mulberry fiber paper, it now refers to the paper’s uses. One side has a smooth finish and the reverse has a rough finish. Not sized.
