About Eugene Delacroix

Eugene Delacroix (1798-1863) was a French painter who played a significant role in the Romantic movement of the 19th century. He was known for his use of vivid colors, dramatic brushstrokes, and bold compositions that challenged traditional artistic conventions.

Born into a middle-class family in Paris, Delacroix showed an early interest in art and received formal training at the École des Beaux-Arts. He drew inspiration from artists such as Rubens, Rembrandt, and Michelangelo, but also incorporated elements from non-Western art.
