Description
Intended for sumi drawing and painting, this thick, blue-black sumi ink stick is made from pine soot and natural binders. It is highly concentrated and formulated to be thinned with water. As is to be expected with such a high quality ink, the transparency and range of tones increase from pure black to the palest grey as the ink is diluted.
These sumi ink sticks are meant to be used by grinding the pigment on a suzuri ink stone. When using the ink stick, put some water in the ink stone, then rub over the stone’s level surface. Carbon particles fall off and dissolve in the water to produce ink.
