Description
Stoneground Watercolour India Yellow
This intense yellow-orange pigment has quickly become a favourite at Stoneground. From landscapes and florals, to illustration and still life work, India Yellow is invaluable for a variety of applications. Comparatively more orange than Hansa Yellow Deep, Stoneground India Yellow watercolour is non-granular, and is brighter in tone than Diarylide Yellow. Available in half pans as well as the Stoneground Brittney Tough Palette.
Artist Notes: This is a clean and vibrant colour almost on the verge of orange. Combine India Yellow with Pyrrole Red for vivid scarlets, or combine with Burnt Sienna Crimson for earthy desert colours.
Paint Maker’s Notes: The original form of this pigment was thought to have come from the caked urine of cows force-fed mango leaves, though recent scholarship sheds some doubt on this theory. These days, artist colours in the same warm yellow family are often christened India or Indian Yellow in honour of the historic pigment.
