From Latin for ‘Dead Head’, Caput Mortuum pigment can range in colour from dull red-violet, to deep, dark earthy brown-violet. Our Caput Mortuum is a beautiful, very granular maroon-violet, perfect for creating wet washes with an interesting, dark, granular quality. Use this colour to create shadows in landscapes, and texture in botanicals.
