Description

Oguni Snowbleached Kozo, 4 deckled edges, Slight Laid Pattern, Unsized

Yukizarashi is the Japanese term for snow bleaching. This traditional paper “bleaching” technique is used for making the best quality washi. Because this technique does not use harsh bleach, the natural strength of the washi fiber is preserved. Paper makers lay they kozo out on snow for several hours each day over the course of a few weeks. This naturally whitens the paper. The handmade washi is cooked with wood ash, and dried on stainless steel sheets.
Oguni Snowbleached Kozo is a beautiful, traditionally-produced Japanese paper that will outlast our great-grandchildren. It is great for chine colle, drawing, and layering. It features four deckled edges and a slight laid pattern, so it is a perfect paper for final editions. Unsized.
