Conte Crayon Matchbox Set
Conte a Paris Sketching Crayons are square ‘carre’ sticks made using a combination of pigments, clay, and binder. Conté crayons have been a preferred artist medium for drawing and sketching for over 250 years. Thinner and harder than traditional chalk pastels, they allow for crisper, more detailed drawing and may also be used on their sides to achieve coverage over broad areas. This convenient Conte Crayon Matchbox set features four popular Conte Crayons in a compact matchbox storage container with a protective sponge insert. It includes one each: Sanguine, Bistre, Black, and White 2B.
Conté crayons are extremely versatile and may be used for a variety of techniques. Conte Carre are harder than pastels and charcoal. They can be applied with the corner for fine lines and the flat edge to make large strokes.
Made from a blend of natural pigments, kaolin clay, and graphite, these pastel sticks provide particularly soft and smooth drawing. They are well suited for use on newsprint, bristol, toned paper, or heavily grained surfaces.
