There are no sables or animal hair used in making these brushes. Gold Sable are always a man-made synthetic filament. If you are averse to using animal products in your art, you will be glad to know that there are synthetic watercolour brushes that come close to performing like natural hair brushes. A gold sable synthetic mimics natural hairs’ water-holding and -dispersing ability. Synthetics are less expensive and more durable than natural-hair brushes. Some names you will see are Gold Sable. These brushes can be used for all water-soluble media including: watercolour, acrylic, gouache and acrylic gel.
Not all Gold Sable brushes are equal. Heinz Jordan brushes are practical and affordable options for beginner artists. They are more durable than many other brands.
