Heinz Jordan’s Hoglin brushes are a synthetic version of a Hog Bristle and considered a vegan and cruelty-free option for hog hair. This line tested very well for holding shape while delivering a strong brush strokes to place, move and blend colours. The brushes can be used for oil or acrylics. Synthetics are easier to clean and longer lasting. Hoglins are a surprisingly good price point.
Fan shapes is popluar for making spruce trees in a landscape but its traditional use is for fine soft blending. Fans also simulate dry brush marks like comb effects for fur, feathers, and old wood.
