Stoneground Watercolour Naphthol Red

A brilliant, intense red, Naphthol Red was first used as an artist pigment during the 1920s. The name comes from the Greek word for mineral oil, a nod to the pigment’s petroleum-based origins. A versatile mixing colour, or used on its own, Stoneground Naphthol Red is useful in a variety of applications.

Artist Notes: Mix Naphthol Red and Ultramarine Blue for interesting violets, or combine with Titanium White for cool pink tints.

Paint Maker’s Notes: Naphthol Red was first used as an artist pigment during the 1920s. The name comes from the Greek word for mineral oil, a nod to the pigment’s petroleum-based origins.
