Description
Jacquard Synthrapol
Jacquard Synthrapol is an industrial strength, pH neutral, liquid detergent that is used as a prewash and after-wash for dyed or painted fabrics. Additionally, you can used it as a wetting agent for fabric dyes as well as fabric paints. This mild detergent has the unique property of keeping loose dye suspended during washing, thus preventing back-staining, while also aiding in the removal of excess color.
Instructions:
Use as a Prewash
Prewashing your fabric to remove oils, waxes, starches and sizing helps to ensure an even dye job. It also reduces the risk of blotchy color.
Directions: Add 3 tablespoons of Synthrapol per 8 lb washing load. For cotton and other cellulose fibers, add 2 tablespoons of soda ash as well. Wash for at least 10 minutes using hot water and then rinse thoroughly.
Use as an After-wash
Jacquard Synthrapol helps to keep loose dye in suspension and is used to remove excess color and to prevent back-staining.
Directions: After dyeing or painting, rinse the fabric in cold water. Then, wash it for at least 10 minutes using 3 tablespoons Synthrapol per 8 lb of fabric. Use hot water for cotton, or cool to warm water for silk and wool, and then rinse thoroughly in cold water.
For use as a Wetting Agent
Adding it to a dye bath or fabric paint can increase dye penetration and helps to ensure even coloring.
Directions: When dyeing wool and other hard-to-wet fibers, add 2 to 3 drops of Synthrapol per 5 lb of fabric.
To increase penetration, coverage and adhesion of fabric paints on hard-to-wet fabrics, add 1 to 2 drops of Synthrapol per 2 oz of paint.
