Big, Big Studio Still Life Show

We all love art materials! Let’s paint a still life to honour these humble materials, collections of creative tools, or favourite brands that work so hard for us.

For our 35th Anniversary in May 2020, we’re filling our walls from front to back and side to side with your paintings of art supplies and studio still lifes. Paint a view of your studio, a floor or table strewn with tubes and brushes, or just your favourite spot to paint. This is our third “Big, Big” exhibition. We have had hundreds of contributions to past exhibitions. See more…  Big, Big Pet Portrait Show

The Big, Big, Studio Still Life Show is as easy as 1-2-3

  1. Get a 12×12” gallery-profile canvas – only $10!
  2. Create a still-life arrangement of art materials
  3. Bring it into The Paint Spot any time before April 30, 2020.

The exhibition will run from May 7 – July 21, 2020.

Yes, we will accept contributions until June 20 (late submissions may be hung around the store, rather than the gallery). Our goal is to fill The Paint Spot with paintings of art materials. This will be a floor-to-ceiling, salon show, and the main attraction during the 25th Anniversary of The Whyte Avenue Art Walk July 10 – 12, 2020.

As soon as you’ve finished your work, send us a picture. Include your info – your name, your artwork’s title, medium, & price. We’ll add you to our social media.

The sooner we get your image the more we can promote you.

Named for Sidsel Naess Bradley, The Paint Spot’s founder. who recognized the need for spaces that promote the exploration of artistic ideas and innovative processes. We are extremely proud of this heritage and its contribution to the development of many artists. Naess Gallery continues to be inclusive, encouraging dialogue among artists and visitors. We welcome proposals for exhibitions that push materials, techniques, subject matter, and conceptions.

In planning the Exhibition Year, we will be inviting artists whose practices we admire to exhibit their new works. It will be a year to revisit artists who have shown in the Naess Gallery in the past and to reveal new artists as well. We are going to see an exciting and enriching program of shows! If you have questions about the Naess Gallery or its exhibition program, please ask Kim Fjordbotten phone 780 432 0240.
