Oct 11th – Nov 19th, 2025 – Group Exhibition

Paper is a meeting place for material. A conduit for ideas to emerge. Paper is often overlooked, it’s usually the container, not the volume of work itself. A drawing or a painting on paper, a print on paper; this surface is rarely considered beyond its texture or tone. Work often feels separate from its surface, rather than an integral part of the art. Paper retains a rich memory. It keeps record of its contact with the world around it. Paper is a cultural currency, a way of exchanging ideas.

The Naess Gallery is an advocate of exploration, experimentation and paper. Which is why we have invited our extended community of artists to participate in “A Place of Meeting”, a group exhibition about paper. The collection of works for this exhibition highlights innovative approaches by artists considering paper.

Closing Reception: Thursday, November 13th, 6 PM – 8 PM
Join us for the closing reception of the exhibition. Most artists will be present in the Naess Gallery, discussing process and some other influences that have informed the work in this exhibition.

Named for Sidsel Naess Bradley, The Paint Spot’s founder. who recognized the need for spaces that promote the exploration of artistic ideas and innovative processes. We are extremely proud of this heritage and its contribution to the development of many artists. Naess Gallery continues to be inclusive, encouraging dialogue among artists and visitors. We welcome proposals for exhibitions that push materials, techniques, subject matter, and conceptions.
In planning the Exhibition Year, we will be inviting artists whose practices we admire to exhibit their new works. It will be a year to revisit artists who have shown in the Naess Gallery in the past and to reveal new artists as well. We are going to see an exciting and enriching program of shows! If you have questions about the Naess Gallery or its exhibition program, please ask Kim Fjordbotten phone 780 432 0240.
