Description
Stoneground Tyrian Cobalt Purple Watercolour
Stoneground Tyrian Cobalt Purple is a deep, moody watercolour that is perfect wherever shadows are required and creates interesting grey-violets when used in washes.
Artist’s Notes: This is a muted, dark cool grey violet incredibly useful in rendering stormy skies and moody atmospheric scenes with clouds and rain. It is also helpful in evening scenes and seascapes.
Paint Maker’s Notes: Stoneground Tyrian Cobalt Purple is similar in hue to the historic pigment used in antiquity. This pigment was made from sea snails and was prohibitively expensive, worn only by the Roman elite.
