Stoneground Nicosia Green Earth Watercolour
Nicosia Green Earth pigment is sourced from deposits in southeastern Cyprus, near the capital city of Nicosia. Green earth pigments were widely used in the under paintings of human flesh during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Derived from the minerals celadonite and glauconite, this cool green colour is useful in a variety of applications including portrait, landscape, and botanical paintings. Available in half pans.
Artist Notes: This is a soft, subtle green that is wonderful in glazing applications.
Paint Maker’s Notes: During the Medieval and Renaissance periods, green earth pigments such as this were used in underpaintings to neutralize the effects of pink and red flesh colours.
