Brenda will encourage you to explore the power of personal vulnerability by seeing how doubt and fear can be turned into artistic potential!
This single-day workshop is offered twice during this symposium and has been designed for participants of all visual art disciplines interested in exploring vulnerability, doubt and fear. We will push the boundaries of what we already know and do, by embracing risk and experimentation. The workshop will include hands-on exercises in collage and drawing, as well as presentation of a range of artists and readings for inspiration and learning.
The focus will be on experimentation and inquiry rather than a finished product.
An added bonus for this session is an invitation for an evening visit to Brenda’s home studio, a short drive away in Edmonton!

Canson XL Watercolour Pads 9″x12″ (or larger) sketchbook of at minimum 140lb paper
Selection of your original photographs and artwork
Posca Pens and/or Drawing Markers
Coloured pencils and/or Crayons
Drawing pencils New Faber Castell Matte Black (up to 14B)
Erasers
Paint brushes
A variety of paints such as
– Acrylic paint – any colours Holbein Acrylic, or Golden Acrylic
– Watercolours – any colours Schmincke AquaDrop or White Nights Watercolours
– Inks – any colours – Amsterdam Ink or Golden High Flow
Scissors
Craft Knife and/or Xacto knife
Metal ruler
Acid-Free Glue Sticks and/or double-sided tape
Apron, smock, or old shirt
Optional Materials List: Additional favorite materials suitable for sketchbook work.
