Collage still life example

Over the course of five afternoons, Sam will guide your exploration and experimentation as you build a sketchbook brimming with new techniques, knowledge, and inspiration for future work.

be introduced to a variety of collage and painting techniques, including collage and still life, and collage and portraiture. Through the act of layering ink, photo collage and other media, you will explore the history and evolution of mixed media for yourself while you push the boundaries of what mixed media can do!

Class work will be supplemented by presentations and discussions involving the evolution of art and collage. Contemporary and historical artists will be examined. Readings (provided by the instructor) will be optional. By the end of the course, you will be able to refer back to your sketchbook for compositional tips and tools for future reference.

Spiral bound sketchbook sized 9”x12” or larger
White poster board or heavy weight paper (to fit inside sketchbook)
Glue stick
Masking tape
Pad of palette paper

Small and medium brushes (for acrylic paint or ink only)
