Mixed Media: Rethinking Ideas about Color and Abstract Shape
Day 4 – Sunday, September 4
Day 5 – Monday, September 5
9:00 am to 4:00 pm
This exciting two-day workshop will introduce you to new ways of seeing and thinking about color and abstract shape. Let exceptionally talented abstract artist Alayne Spafford inspire you to push your own boundaries as she shares her process and her working methods to create beautiful, dynamic abstract works.
The focus of the workshop will be on color and shape, using mixed media in an abstract format. Alayne will share and demonstrate methods to build and identify shapes within an unstructured first base layer of collage and paint. Building on that, you will learn how subsequent layers define color relationships and balance. Over the two days you will gain experience working with a variety of media including sketchbooks, handmade paper, canvas, acrylic paint, and collage.
