Half-day workshop
You have a beautiful beginning for a painting… but what do you do next? Ideas will flow as Doris leads you in the next steps to advance your painting.
Encouraging participation in the idea generation process, Doris will guide you in adding subject content as you explore different ways to progress the painting. Composition, color, texture and value will be discussed as well as what to keep and what to allow to disappear from the initial background.
There is one key prerequisite: bring a painting from the “Beginnings” morning workshop, or bring one you have already begun at home.

Black and white acrylic paint Golden or Holbein
Three acrylic paints (your favorite colors) Golden or Holbein
Paper doilies
Cardboard
Coffee cups and lids
Bamboo sticks
One large paintbrush – da Vinci Synthetic Mottler
One small brush – da Vinci Round Synthetic Brush
Spray bottle – Holbein Mini Spray Bottle
Small ruler or thin cardboard
90 lb paper or Dura-Lar Matte Mylar
Xacto knife
Plastic wrap
6 canvases or surfaces (maximum size 16″x20″)
– Real Thing Canvas Pads
– Canson Canva Art Boards
– Canson Canvas Paper Pad
Optional Materials List
Additional favorite acrylic paints
Additional favorite tools (ie. Catalyst Blades, Catalyst Wedges, or Stencils)
Additional stretched canvases or other surfaces
If you are local you are invited to bring your favourite size of stretched canvas too.
