Abstracting the Landscape in Soft Pastel
Day 1 – Thursday, September 1
Day 2 – Friday, September 2
9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Explore the potential of soft pastel as an experimental medium! In this two-day workshop, David will guide you in discovering the capabilities and experimental boundaries of soft pastel. Learn how to push the medium while practicing bold new ways of abstracting the landscape.
You’ll explore the use of isopropyl alcohol on sanded paper, and the use of acrylic mixed media surfaces for the layering of rich pastel colors. Then David will share new ways of seeing compositional shape, color and balance and demonstrate expressive mark-making, to give you the tools to create your own expressive abstract landscape.
