Create your own Metallic Calligraphy Ink!
Add a little sparkle to your lettering. Pearl-Ex powders make a wonderful ink for both dip pen and brush lettering. Mixing your own metallic/pearlescent calligraphy ink is easier than ever with Jacquard’s new Metallic Calligraphy Set. Just add water to any of the luscious Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments in the set along with the included Gum Arabic binder. The thinner the ink, the more it will lie flat on the paper while thicker consistencies will stand and have a raised texture. Either way, the ink will shimmer and shine!
This set included three little bottles of Gum Arabic used as a binder medium for a variety of applications. Use with water and Pearl Ex (or other dry pigments) to make your own transparent watercolors, washes, stamping and calligraphy inks. For use on paper, wood or any surface that will not be washed. Gum Arabic produces a glossy, easy to brush or stamp on paint that easily mixes and cleans up with water.
Instructions for Gum Arabic
Add dry gum to pigment in a ratio of 1 part gum to 4 parts pigment. (Ratio of gum to pigment may be adjusted for different effects). Slowly add water and mix until the desired consistency is achieved. Solutions of gum and water may also be prepared and stored in a cool place for later use.
