For Mid-Beginner & Intermediate Artists
Are you ready to sharpen your watercolour skills and build your artistic confidence?
In this 5-hour class, Francis Marte will teach you various watercolour techniques to achieve that fine art, realistic finish.
You will learn:
- How to paint a soft and beautifully gradated background
- What pigments options to use for dramatic grays
- How to paint hyperealistic pears using various pigments and small brushes
- How to tackle light and shadows
- How to apply finishing touches by editing, correcting value and mistakes
This class is for watercolour painters with medium or intermediate experience, but brave beginners are also welcome.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
Instructor will provide watercolour paint and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press, 11 x 15”), watercolour brushes (round #2, round #12, & flat #12), 2 palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of the class!
Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
