Realistic Botanicals
Do you enjoy painting watercolour flowers? Do you wish that your botanical watercolours looked more realistic? Join Francis Marte in this 3-hour evening class where you will learn how to paint a perfect red rose bud.
In this class, Francis will break down the rose painting process by creating a colour palette, applying the pigments in stages to create a realistic flower bud form on wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry paper. Guided by a reference photo, you will learn how to pay attention to value, tone and detailing.
After this class you will be more confident in painting dramatic, realistic, still-life paintings.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Instructor will provide watercolour paint and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (Arches 300lb cold press, 11 x 15”), round watercolour brushes #2 & #12, 2 palettes, kneadable gum eraser, masking tape, mounting board
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
