Realistic Botanicals
In this class, you will learn how to paint a simple yet elegant pink peony in realism style. You will learn how to apply multiple glazes to achieve a 3D effect in watercolour while paying close attention to value and tone. Using wet-on-wet technique, you will also learn how to paint shadows with the appropriate pigments for that beautiful, soft, translucent effect. In achieving the highlights, the instructor will demo how to lift paint, and how preserve the white of the paper.
A photo reference will be provided by the instructor as well as paints.
About the Instructor:
Francis Marte is a realistic watercolourist with years of professional experience. He has participated in various exhibits and has been featured in international watercolour publications. Francis possesses a strong sense of artistry, consistently displayed in all his art pieces. He is a well regarded watercolour instructor for emerging watercolourists.

Instructor will provide watercolour paint and photo reference.
The Paint Spot will provide watercolour paper (cold press, 11 x 15”), brushes, palettes, kneadable eraser, masking tape, mounting board.
Please Bring:
- Handful of kitchen paper towels, ballpoint pen, 2 containers for water
- Suitable art clothes, hand towel, notebook, snack, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)

Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
