Drawing Inspiration from Animals

Learn how to draw by observing real animals. All supplies are provided by The Paint Spot. You are encouraged to bring a favorite sketchbook, if you wish.

Each session will include an introduction of the animal(s) by a Zoo handler, and a close-up study to see and discuss details we will capture in our observational. Then Kim Fjordbotten will demonstrate 2 – 3 techniques for participants to try, followed by real-time drawing from life while the animal is moving or acting natural. After the break we will work from photos to continue rendering and completing our drawings.

At the end of the session we hope to share some of our drawings on social media to help bring attention to the Zoo and raise much needed funds for the animals upkeep and care.

Share your Edmonton Valley Zoo drawing adventure! #yegzooart #yegzoodraw @edmontonvalleyzoo @thepaintspot

NOTE: Our activities will be dependent on the weather, so please dress accordingly.
