Indigo Dyeing: Fabric Arts Workshop WITH SHELLY BANKS
SUNDAY, AUGUST 13
12:30 PM – 5:30 PM
$80 + $20 Supply Fee
Class Limit: 12 Students
Any Skill Level – Youth or Adult
This is a class that offers so many pleasant surprises!
Using indigo is an ancient artform, thousands of years old in fact. Learn how to dye natural cloth with indigo dye – it starts out green and turns many shades of blue, according to what you do with it.
Not only that, but you can fold the cloth, stitch it, scrunch it with rubber bands, wrap it around all sorts of everyday objects like bolts to create patterns in varying shades of blue.
Or apply your ingenuity and come up with new techniques! Shelly will have many ideas that you can try out, too.
About the Instructor: Shelly is an award-winning coloured-pencil artist who also enjoys teaching indigo dyeing, acrylics, glass painting and how to make beeswax wraps. She loves exploring a wide range of mediums. Her current passion is oil painting as it creates so much luminosity and vibrancy. She has taught for The Paint Spot for over 6 years now – she loves it!
