This class is an introduction to the encaustic medium.
Erinn will guide you through the basics of painting with encaustics, as well as several techniques for creating pattern, texture, and India ink tree background that will culminate in the creation of your very own 9 x 12″ painting of a crow.
This class is perfect for those new to encaustics as well as those wanting to expand their knowledge on the subject.
About the Instructor: Erinn Evans is an encaustics artist residing in Sherwood Park who has been working in encaustics for the past four years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Art and has previously taught for the Leduc Arts Foundry.

Most supplies are included in the supply fee.
The Paint Spot will supply: 9 x 12” birch panel, encaustic medium, encaustic paint, masking tape, heat plates, heat guns, sculpting tools, paper towels, India ink, oil pigment sticks, metal tins for holding encaustic medium, thermometers, brushes
Instructor will supply: Stencils, reference photos, vine charcoal, Pam cooking spray, information handouts
You bring: Suitable art clothes, lunch, drink, and your own PPE (mask, hand sanitizer)
You will receive a 20% discount on all art supplies from your registration until the end of class day!
*Artelier is located at 10045 81 Avenue NW (back alley entrance). The workshop space is one block south of The Paint Spot.
