An iconic prairie scene is at your fingertips. Using the vibrant colours of soft pastels, learn how to layer your pastels to achieve maximum impact in colour and texture. Starting with a solid under-drawing in light charcoal, you will learn how to build up the colour gradually through a step-by-step process, acquiring valuable techniques as you go. No experience necessary, and no waiting for paint to dry!

About the Instructor: David Shkolny grew up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. From an early age he aspired to be an artist and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1992. After graduating he attended Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton to study graphic design. David works primarily in soft pastels, a favourite for its rich colours. He also creates work in watercolour and acrylic and is best known for his expressive landscapes. His creations are in several private collections and the Canada Council Art Bank.
